Keep on moving

Exercise is a vital part of the weight loss process. You can cut out all the fat you like from your diet, but if you don’t shake your ass to encourage your body to burn the existing fat you have on your bones, then your weight loss plan is never going to be successful.
Starting an exercise program after months or even years of inaction can be tricky. If you haven’t done any exercise for a long time, then the last thing you want to do is go out and buy some expensive running shoes and a a Garmin Forerunner 210 and start tackling 10 kilometre runs. You’ll end up doing yourself a damage, as my Mum would say.
Build up slowly. Walking and swimming may not seem great ways to exercise, but any movement will help your body burn that nasty, unwanted fat. OK, you will have to keep the pace up a bit; strolling slowly up and down the High Street on a Saturday afternoon will not count as one of your weekly exercise sessions! Swimming is perfect for those who have a lot of weight to lose, as the water supports your body weight. Not only are you less likely to cause yourself an injury, but you will feel more comfortable too.
Once the weight starts to drop off and you start to feel more active and healthy, you can always try joining a gym and using their equipment, especially the weights, to help you tone up your tummy, or anywhere else that is starting to look a bit flabby. Keep the cardio up though, even after you have achieved your goal, as exercise is not just a great way to shed the pounds, it’s also a great way to stay generally healthy and avoid scary problems like heart disease and diabetes as you get older.
