Dieting without Starving

People use all kinds of methods to try and lose weight and slim down. These vary from brutal exercise to surgery. The truth is that if you want a healthy body you need to live a healthy lifestyle but this isn’t as hard or as boring as it sounds. One of the most significant things that almost all of us could change for the better to make our lives healthier is our diet.

Obviously it is of great benefit to cut out the junk food, it is often said “you are what you eat” and in many respects this is true. Fast foods are unhealthy because they have all kinds of preservatives in them, such as salt or sugar, and they have been cooked in a greasy and unhealthy way. The method used to cook food can change it from something pretty harmless to something quite damaging. A great example of this are eggs; we used to be told to eat no more than 1 or 2 eggs a day however a recent study has shown that many of the bad effects suffered from eating many eggs could actually be traced back to cooking them in butter rather than a healthier oil. If you cook your eggs in olive oil for example you can eat many more than previously thought without the health problems.

So how do we ensure that our food is cooked well and that the ingredients are good for us? Well there is a simple answer to this and that is eat in more. This won’t just have health benefits but it will also help your wallet too. This will ensure you know exactly what is in your food and when it comes from. You need to make sure you chose whole wheat products whenever there is an option and cut down on side sauces. This small step will help reduce your calorie intake significantly. Admittedly this healthy diet mixed with light exercise won’t quite give you the beach body that you dream of, but it is a good start and will help you shed those excess pounds.
